Jason knows that laughing at Tim is a fairly dangerous thing to do, but he can’t help it.

He just looks so cute.

“Where—where the hell did you get that?” Jason chokes out wheezes, pointing at Tim’s chest. “Oh my god.”

Tim crosses his arms and gives Jason a stern look, but the sweater with a Christmas tree sewn on it completely ruins the intended effect. “Mrs Carlton downstairs gave it to me last year. She’s coming up to say hello today.”

“Why do you have to wear that?”

“Because she made it for me, Jason. It’s polite.”

“I have never seen that thing before in my life. Where have you been hiding it for a year?”

Tim just smirks.

Mrs Carlton beams when she sees Tim wearing her sweater, and she leaves them a huge plate of cookies after they’ve had tea together.

After that, even more mysterious knitted sweaters start appearing, to Jason’s amazement. He knew all the old ladies in their building – and there were a lot of old ladies – loved Tim, but this?

Every time Tim goes down to get the mail or speak to the landlord, he has a different one on. One with a reindeer on it from Mrs Jameson. An oversized abomination that makes Tim look even skinnier than he already does from Mrs Allen. Even one from the cat lady on the second floor who hates everyone – except, apparently, Tim.

After a while, Jason concedes that he can’t blame them, really. The sweaters all hang a little loosely on him, he’s so damn tiny, and as it gets colder, he’s red-cheeked and all wrapped up in wool and—

“Jason!” Tim jumps as a pair of strong arms suddenly wrap around his waist from behind. “I thought—”

“It’s snowing,” Jason interrupts, nuzzling at Tim’s neck. “Let’s go outside. Right now. Come on.”

“I’m not dressed for snow,” Tim starts to protest, but Jason snorts.

“You’re wearing like, three of those sweaters.”

“It’s cold,” Tim says defensively.

“And snowing,” Jason grins, and drags Tim downstairs.

The sweaters were good for something, after all.
